About Defence & Technology Expo Empowering MSME

Swatantra Foundation, an institution devoted to public policy analysis and advocacy, founded in memory of Bharat Ratna. C. Rajagopalachariyar is organising this this unique Defence & Technology Expo Empowering MSME, first such Defence Expo for MSME at this level in the Country, to connect the Indian MSME, particularly the Micro & Small with the Indian Medium & Large defence manufacturers as well as with Foreign defence & technology manufacturers towards

  1. To connect MSMEs to end users in the Services, Indian Defence Manufacturing majors and the various R&D institutions under DRDO and DPSUs.
  2. To build and harness the Capacity and Capability of MSME sector to cater to the needs of Defence Sector and technology sector.
  3. To create a broad and sustainable Supply Chain base for a vibrant MSME sector for Defence, Defence Exports, technology products and futuristic technology.
  4. To provide a forum for MSME and Defence & technology sector buyers to interact and identify mutually beneficial areas of business opportunities
  5. To enable an eco-system for Innovation by promoting new Start Ups and Academia-Industry collaborations.

DEFENCE & TECHNOLOGY EXPO EMPOWERING MSME provides opportunities to MSME sector to demonstrate products to the potential customer and investors. In this show Exhibitors are likely to showcase their products using latest technologies to the potential customers. This is an important event likely to be attended by thousands of business visitors.

The feature will be breakout B2B sessions where the potential supply chain partners from the Overseas – Indian  Large – Medium – Small – Micro & Start-up segment can meet up and exchange details.

Overseas & Large Indian Defence manufacturers are expected to showcase their requirements in the Exhibition. Also there will be video presentation of the requirements and the potential MSMEs can then fix the B2B meeting schedule with the potential customers.

There are huge requirements in the Defence sector, both from the DPSU & Private manufacturers and there is good scope to meet the base workshop / consumables requirements of the Army, Navy,  Air force and BSF, which the Expo would like the MSMEs to utilize.

With Department of Defence Production targeting Rs.35,000 Crore Export Target by the year 2023-24 together with around rs.51,000 Crores offset obligation opportunities, there is tremendous scope for Indian Industries, particularly the MSMEs, to utilize this opportunity.

Similarly with the Department of Defence Production aiming for Rs.90000 Crore Defence Production for the current year, here too there is tremendous scope for Indian Industries.

With the target of Rs.10000 Crore for the Tamil Nadu defence corridor, the Tamil Nadu defence manufacturers can gear up to the challenge of meeting the target.

For all this to happen streamlined supply chain is very important with MSME participation and hence this DEFENCE & TECHNOLOGY EXPO EMPOWERING MSME.

One of the Objective of this EXPO is to ensure Indian MSMEs are fully aware of the procedures to supply to the defence & technology sector with DGQA  agreeing to participate and address on one of the seminar sessions.
